Lites at Sebring

The IMSA Lites Championship presented by Hankook features multi-class racing. It presents a dimension of competition as drivers must be aware of classes with distinctly different speeds as they navigate the race tracks. This is the same challenge American Le Mans Series drivers face.

The IMSA Lites Championship was developed to support the American Le Mans series, the premier prototype and GT endurance racing series in the world. The series features global race car constructors Elan Motorsport Technologies, West Race Cars, and Van Diemen Motorsports, IMSA Lites offers racers from around the world the opportunity to compete at historic racing venues like Sebring International Raceway, Road Atlanta and Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca.

Lites One

Built on the Elan Motorsports Technologies DP-02 chassis, these premiere high-tech purpose-built race cars are designed to develop the more advanced drivers, with aspirations to graduate to the next level of professional racing. The DP-02 features a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis, a six-speed sequential gearbox, and a full aerodynamic package. The DP-02 is powered by a 2.3-liter, four-cylinder Mazda MP2 engine, sealed by Elan Power Products.

Lites Two

Featuring the West Race Cars WR 1000 chassis, this smaller and lighter weight prototype features state of the art semi-monocoque frame which shelters the driver in a 1" thick monocoque tub for driver safety and stability. Shifting is controlled by an F1 inspired electronic paddle shift system. The WR 1000 is powered by a purpose-built Kawasaki ZX 1000cc race motor that can rev up to 12,000 rpm and develops 174 hp.

Lites Three

Making use of the Elan / Van Diemen DP-06 chassis, this Formula SCCA car is a well developed entry level race car. It is a low cost option for the driver wanting to move up and race in a professional series and is a car that is readily available. The DP-06 features a multi-tubular steel spaceframe extensively braced in the cockpit and footwell areas. It is powered by a 2.3-liter sealed four-cylinder Mazda MZR engine that develops 170hp.
